DATALyste (en)

Lyon 1 Claude Bernard University and URFIST Lyon are joining the data management cluster (“atelier de la donnée”) of the Lyon-Saint-Étienne Area: DATALystE.

Led by the University of Lyon, the workshop is a center of expertise dedicated to research data. It supports scientific communities in their data management and sharing practices through information, training, and outreach initiatives, promoting open science practices.

DATALystE: A Data Workshop for the Lyon-Saint-Étienne Area

Initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research as part of the 2nd National Plan for Open Science, data management clusters are local initiatives dedicated to providing support for data management. They are essential building blocks of the Research Data Gov ecosystem. Covering the national territory,  they aim in particular at promoting better management, openness, and reuse of research data, in order to provide concrete support to scientific communities in their practices.
DATALystE, the Lyon–Saint-Étienne Data Management cluster —which received its accreditation in January 2025—operates within this context. Led by the University of Lyon, DATALystE pools the existing expertise of the 15 partner institutions in the Lyon–Saint-Étienne area. It supports scientific communities in their management and sharing practices through information, training, and outreach initiatives, thereby promoting open science practices.

The Involvement of Lyon 1 and Urfist

Mathieu Maillard, Vice President for Open Science at Lyon 1 University, has joined the DATALystE steering committee. The University Libraries’ Research Services Department, the DAJI Archives Division, and URFIST Lyon—all of which are deeply involved in this partnership—will contribute to the various working groups led by DATALystE.

The challenge is both to pool the site’s expertise and to offer research teams hands-on support that is clear and complementary to existing infrastructure and services.
